Everyone knows about the 36-hour grace period on nurture streaks — the one that means a single missed day shouldn't break your run. It works less often than people assume.
Two clocks, not one
The game day rolls over at midnight UTC, and separately you get 36 hours from your last nurture before the streak resets. 36 hours is a day and a half, and whether that spare half-day actually covers a missed day depends entirely on what time you tapped.
Nurture at 08:00 UTC and your window closes at 20:00 tomorrow — still inside tomorrow, so you have to nurture again. Nurture at 20:00 UTC and it closes at 08:00 the day after — you can miss a whole day and survive.
The cutoff is noon UTC
Noon plus 36 hours lands exactly at the end of the next day. Before noon, no safety net. After noon, a real one. That's 8:00 AM in New York, 1:00 PM in London, 8:00 PM in Manila and 9:00 PM in Tokyo — so in the Americas you're mostly covered already, while east of London a morning nurture leaves you no slack at all.
Why bother
Breaking a streak doesn't cost you one day. You drop from 10 points a day back to 6 and need 29 days to climb back — roughly 44 points on top of the day you missed. An unbroken run to the free mint is worth about 526 points.
