Yakkamon has changed how a referral is verified for the second time in ten days — and this one is a different kind of change. The first tightened who counts. This one attaches a price.
The three changes
| Before | Now | |
|---|---|---|
| How a referral verifies | Friend verifies Discord + Twitter/X, and reaches 100 points | Friend links a wallet and deposits 100 $FLOWER |
| Points per referral | 30 | 75 |
| First five | Instant on sign-up | Instant on sign-up (unchanged) |
The team's stated reason for dropping Discord and X is bluntly practical: bot accounts were clearing that bar in bulk, so the check was filtering nobody while flooding two community channels with fake members.
The part that matters
A 2.5× increase in points per referral reads like a win. It is, if you have the reach. But the verification bar moved from effort to money, and not your money — your friend's.
Under the old rule, a referral you'd persuaded to sign up could be walked to 100 points in about a week of free play. You could help. Under the new one, there is nothing you can do on their behalf: they need a wallet, they need 100 $FLOWER, and they have to send it themselves.
What it does to the numbers
| Player | Old total by mint | New total by mint |
|---|---|---|
| No referrals | ~990 | ~990 (unchanged) |
| Strictly free (first five only) | ~1,140 | ~1,365 |
| 50 referrals | ~2,490 | ~4,740 |
| 100 referrals | ~3,990 | ~8,490 |
Read the two middle rows together, because they're the whole story. The strictly free player — no money, and friends with no money — gains about 225 points from this change. The player who can find 45 friends willing to deposit gains about 2,250. The change is worth ten times more to the second player than the first.
What's genuinely good about it
- It actually stops the farming. A hundred throwaway emails could clear Discord and X links. A hundred wallets each funded with 100 $FLOWER is 10,000 $FLOWER of real capital at risk of being stripped in review — a bad trade rather than a cheap one.
- It stops polluting the community channels. Discord and X were being used as an anti-bot filter they were never suited for, and the cost was borne by everyone else in those channels.
- The deposit isn't purely a cost to your friend. Their 100 $FLOWER earns them points too, at the current weekly multiplier and the +10% size bonus, and it stays theirs — spendable in-game or withdrawable once they have access. They're not paying you a fee; they're pre-loading their own balance.
- 75 points is a real rate. Against a 250-point free mint and roughly 6–10 points a day of nurture, one referral is now worth more than a week of daily play.
What's concerning
- The leaderboard just got more expensive to climb, from both directions. Deposits were always the paid lane. Referrals were the free one. Both now route through $FLOWER.
- It pushes the cost onto the person with the least information. You know why you're asking. Your friend is being asked to send 100 $FLOWER to a pre-registration for a game that hasn't launched, on the strength of your recommendation. That deserves care in how you ask.
- Wallet-linked referrals interact badly with the multi-accounting rule. Shared devices and shared wallets are already grounds for removal. Funding a friend's wallet so they can clear the bar looks, in a review, a great deal like exactly that.
- The docs haven't caught up. As of publication, docs.yakkamon.com still lists the old three-step rule. The updated rules are on yakkamon.com's own info pages. Two official sources, two different rules — assume the stricter one applies.
What we'd do
- Use your five instant referrals first. They're free, they're unconditional, and at 75 points they're now worth 375 — more than a month of nurture. Anyone who hasn't used them is leaving the easiest points on the board.
- Past five, ask people who were going to deposit anyway. Someone already planning to put $FLOWER in loses nothing by routing 100 of it through your link. Someone who wasn't is being asked for real money.
- Be straight with them about what you're asking. Explain that it's their wallet, their money, that it stays theirs, and that it earns them points too. Don't front the 100 $FLOWER for them.
- Recalculate your target. If your rank plan assumed 50 free referrals, that plan needed rewriting this morning. The revised free-to-play numbers →
