GAMEPLAY SYSTEMS

How Yakkamon actually works, system by system, in plain English — the idle half where your monsters farm around the clock, and the active half where you hunt, craft and battle. Built from the official docs, what the team said on the dev streams, and the official screenshots.

Updated October 6, 2026 — a new roster sheet, same count, one swap: the blue bird with the yellow beak has left the fifth row and a green dragon with pink horns and wings takes its slot (see the sheet). Still twenty-six of the thirty in the build, the other twenty-five unchanged and in the same order, and still no names, types or rarities. The September 24 Battles guide stands: The Battle System follows its eight points (setup stage, reserves on the bench, condition skills you choose per fight, a type on every Yakkamon and every skill, live substitutions and items, six kinds of fight including offline gyms, damage that sticks, rewards in items and XP) with the September 17 stream’s 70/30 auto battler underneath. The quick reference, the unknowns and the field guide follow. Start with The Battle System →

THE WHOLE GAME, ONE PAGE

Revised September 24, 2026 — after the official Battles guide. The Battle System panel is rebuilt around its eight points: a setup stage with free placement, real-time fights that scale from 1v1 to team fights with reserves on the bench, skills you choose that fire on conditions, a type on every Yakkamon and every skill, live substitutions and battle items plus one preparation item, six kinds of fight including gyms that win for you offline, damage that sticks until rested, and rewards in items and experience — with the September 17 stream’s 70/30 auto battler and four stats underneath. Looking After Them, Your Gym, Hunting and Not Confirmed Yet each picked up a line. Twenty-two panels.

Field guide poster explaining how Yakkamon works, revised September 24, 2026: the idle and active halves, the six-step core loop, thirty Yakkamon in the early-access build and what makes an individual worth keeping, rarity set at species level, type locking, the work and stamina cycle with beds as capacity, plot upkeep from use not absence, storage bins, monster care where battle damage sticks until rested, how boosts stack, the Genesis Legendaries' utilities and auras with small and large AOE, breeding limits and genetics, your base and a gym that ships before the arena and wins for you offline, the three-layer world of tiles, Regions and Chapters where lands never reset, logistics between Regions, a universal clock that turns every few real hours with hour traits and weather events, seasonal gather-and-craft gates, hunting grounds on the in-game clock with affectionate, greedy and angry wild Yakkamon and Legendaries that appear unannounced, still being prototyped, crafting with lures and bait, the battle system in the official guide's eight points: a setup stage with free placement, real-time fights that scale from 1v1 to team fights with reserves on the bench, skills you choose that fire on conditions, a type on every Yakkamon and every skill, live substitutions and battle items plus one preparation item, six kinds of fight including offline gyms, damage that sticks, and rewards in items and experience, with the 70/30 auto battler and four stats underneath, the two-track economy, progression and endgame, and the mechanics not yet confirmed.

THE ROSTER SO FAR

Every creature the team has officially shown, in one sheet — no names, no types, no rarities yet, so a portrait says nothing about what one can gather.

Official Yakkamon roster sheet headed YAKKAMONS, showing twenty-six creature portraits: four full rows of six and a fifth row of two, with four slots still empty. The second slot of the fifth row now holds a green dragon with pink horns and wings.
Twenty-six of the thirty in the early-access build, as of October 6 — so four are still unseen. Same count as September 13, one swap: the blue bird with the yellow beak is gone from the fifth row and a green dragon takes its slot. Portraits only, with names and types still to come. What can and can’t be read into it →

Treat mock-up numbers as placeholders. Several screenshots circulating are UI mock-ups rather than tuned builds — the 999,999 currency figures and the level 99 cap are filler, not confirmed limits. Anything above sourced to a mock-up can still change before launch — and the August 21 battle screenshot was an internal dev gym, not the finished battle screen.
